The United Kingdom is set to progress with using the full worth of seized Russia's assets to aid the Ukrainian defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a shared declaration, the leaders of the Britain, France, and Germany emphasized that this coordinated action would heighten pressure on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to participate in talks.

They clarified that the initiative would be carried out in close cooperation with the US.

United Kingdom penalties have blocked over £25bn of Russia's funds since Moscow initiated its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, previously, money sent to the Ukrainian government using Russian funds had solely been taken from gains and dividends accrued on them.

Sir Keir told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and Germany were in agreement in their desire to advance efforts toward employing the full value of the frozen Russian sovereign funds to halt hostilities.

He stated that further sanctions over the next period would apply more pressure on Russia.

This announcement comes after European Union officials met in the Danish capital recently to discuss utilizing immobilized Russia's assets for a 140-billion-euro financial aid to Ukraine.

Last month, American leader Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to confiscate or otherwise use frozen Russian assets, as reported by news outlets.

The value of immobilized Russia's assets in the European Union is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

Leader Zelensky encourages Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to take part in the PURL initiative

The Russian government carried out widespread aerial attacks throughout Ukraine on Friday, leading to power cuts in many areas of the capital city, the city, and eight other regions.

A pair of individuals were fatally injured and at least 20 people were hurt in the assault, the Ukrainian government stated.

In a message on social media subsequent to the strike, Zelensky stated that the strategic strike aimed at civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What is required is not empty words but firm measures - from the United States, Europe, and the seven nations - in supplying anti-aircraft weapons and applying penalties," he wrote.

"Each restrictive measure weakens Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky stated to the press he would encourage Sir Keir to enter the PURL program, under which Nato countries buy military equipment from the US to give to Ukraine.

While praising the UK's strong support for the Ukrainian government, he said it should demonstrate clearly that it would participate in the program, as well as apply additional sanctions on Moscow.
