Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
