Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor now faces charges for performing assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
